I didn't expect it, but this place has the best salmon sashimi outside of Japan I've had thus far--which is really weird considering it's not even a sushi place. Everything else was delicious as well. Great deal for the price.
We had the kanitama, which was crab omelet on a hot pan, and it was SO GOOD. Loved it a lot, it was a creative texture I haven’t had in a long time too. I thought the chicken katsu though was a bit too thick––hard to chew on the inside. The miso soup is good but overall I wasn’t that impressed with the dish. We came in at like 7:30 but we were able to get a table and the service is friendly and fast.
Seeing the crab omlette on the menu is what brought me to the restaurant and it was worth it along with a lot of other great options on the menu. I will be back to try more.
The appetizers are worth getting and I really enjoyed the mackerel although it can be a bit intimidating to eat if you aren't used to eating a whole fish and have to navigate the bones.
The unagi bowl set was a stand out dish with hand grated Wasabi, and some soup, seasoning, and sauce to have with it.
I want to try the hamburg curry when I go next.
Very authentic Japanese food served with a condescending attitude.
If I got this kind of service and the food wasn’t so great, I would give it one star. But, the food is very good. If you’re new to the Japanese dining scene, this is not a sushi place although there are several sashimi and other raw seafood dishes. They have an extensive menu with something for everyone.
It’s a great place to meet after work or for a night out with friends. It’s tough competition for seating at the bar.
The prices are reasonable and you get a 10% discount if you pay cash. I highly recommend it despite the negative attitude service.
Love this place we've been their loyal customers for about 2 years now. During covid and now post Covid. Definitely recommend coming in and eat the bowls fresh rather than getting delivery. The dons are amazing and the prices are very affordable too. The drinks here are surprisingly cheap for the size and they're pretty strong too. 10/10 would recommend
Here is one of the rare places where you can get very authentic Japanese food in NYC! I really love this place especially their motsu nabe and taro croquette, those are amazing! But I have to give them 4stars because the service was mediocre.. they actually threw plates on our table, being super grumpy for some reason.. It was unfortunately very uncomfortable.
Also, they started requiring cash tip so you need to bring some with you.
Excellent authentic Japanese food. Prices are honest and service very attentive. Perfect for a cozy night out with friends or family.
I liked how @donburi.ya has a good variety of izakaya food options - one of the things I miss the most about Japan! The taste however is quite average, and I think they don’t match up to the price point.
